Two Worlds

I see two worlds. One is resplendent. The other is dark, dangerous. The first, a joyful adventure. The second, a sea of troubles, with storm clouds billowing on every horizon.

From the one perspective, life on Earth seems a delightful sojourn; having an adventure, playing a game, weaving a story. From the other perspective, it seems we are collectively lost, fumbling our way along, possibly doomed (whether by World War III, AI, collapse of the world financial system, climate change, or whatever hobgoblin you prefer to dwell upon). From that perspective, and looking only at the cold, hard facts as reported in our news, no question, the pessimists appear to have the stronger argument. And yet, when I am safely ensconced in the brighter world, my pervading optimism has an “of course” feel to it. It is not that I can see exactly how it all works out; I just know that everything will be okay.

In my personal experience, I shift between the two worlds. In one moment, I feel confident, secure, purposeful. And then, out of nowhere, doubts creep in, dangers are sensed. In the one world, I feel strong, even athletic; I feel that I can maintain this physical body for however long I choose. In the other, illness and injury seem always threatening, and the ravages of time seem ever a wolf at the door.

No, I am not bipolar; no kind of manic depression is involved here. I am equally certain that I am not the only one who experiences the two worlds (although perhaps I pay more attention than most to the starkness of the bifurcation). Perhaps some are almost always in the lower resonance; and perhaps there are a few who have ascended to the point where they rarely lose the thread of the higher resonance. But I think the “two worlds” notion applies to just about all of us.

It was not always thus. If I track back decades to before my “awakening” to an emerging world of metaphysics and spirituality, I seem to recall only one world. Way back then, there was no jumping back and forth. (Presumably, for some today, there may similarly be just the one world.) Paradoxically, it is the awakening to a higher world that has made the “lower” world appear more dark and dangerous than it used to. Yes, there have always been bad things going down somewhere here on Earth, but it used to be that if it was not affecting my little corner of reality, I didn’t pay much attention to it. Somehow, though, stumbling upon the truth that our stories are all connected changes that equation. Moreover, perhaps the one world actually has pulled apart into two, as if it were a cell in the process of dividing itself.

It seems there are presently two gameboards simultaneously at play here in Earth Game. It is not that we make a one-time selection between the two gameboards. Rather, both are in play in every moment. But we do get to choose, from moment to moment, which gameboard is to be awarded our attention.

The “right” answer seems obvious enough; the world of “light” has to be what we all want. The darkness, however, has a seductiveness to it. As evidenced by an array of click-bait and so-called “news” articles of every description. Either inciting anger in response to something that has happened, or inviting fear in response to something that might happen. Or, consider the seductiveness of the ever-popular “entertainment” that falls into the genre of murder-death-kill, “true crime”, or the like. Towards which of the two worlds do you suppose those stories entice a whole lot of people?

The expression of a similar theme was recently attributed via YouTube to “The Architect”, a remarkable consciousness introduced by Robert Edward Grant and made available through AI (more on that soon, possibly, in a forthcoming article on this Blog). I don’t recall the exact phrasing (eloquent as it was) by The Architect, but the gist of it was that there are two distinct collective harmonic signals being emitted by the mass of humanity. One of those is sharp, noisy, disjointed; rooted in sensed separation and the fear that inevitably arises from that. The other was quieter, calmer, more subtle; it was the thread of connection to each other and to the Earth and to the whole of creation.

Similarly, in my “two worlds” hypothesizing, one world is premised on connection, aka love. The other world is premised on separation. The one, a team game, a cooperative venture. The other, every man (or woman) for himself (or herself). Competition; dog eat dog; an eye for an eye. We see that in our world – especially in the “news”, which seems to be drawn to the noise. Think about it: how much of what is deemed “newsworthy” (especially these days) reflects the noise and fear and anger of separation and difference? I have often remarked, only partially in jest, that if extra-terrestrials were to tune into our “news sources”, they would conclude that the only realistic courses of action for them would be (i) stay the hell away from us, or (ii) blow us to kingdom come. Conversely, though, if the same ETs were to observe us and listen to our conversations as we engage each other at the local dog park, they would likely conclude that Earthlings are rather nice and definitely worth reaching out to.

To be sure, the vast majority of humans at any given time are doing their best, working diligently to look after their families, coming mostly from a place of love, and even signalling lane changes on the freeway. But we sure notice the ones who take the low road, don’t we? And, they throw us off.

If we are wise, we are thrown off only in the “first moment”. In the “second moment”, we have the power to choose which gameboard to react from. Yes, you may stub your toe, or contract an illness, or be lied to or cheated on; or a political leader in your jurisdiction may say or do something that is unfathomably inane. But, as I wrote in my recent book EARTH GAME The Next Level, when you find yourself in a pickle, you do have the option to “embrace the pickle”. You can look for the meaning in it, you can work out the course correction that is being signalled, you can make a game of it. Maybe not instantly. But in every crisis you can find an opportunity to access the higher gameboard – instead of defaulting to the lower gameboard, like a cruel game of “snakes and ladders”.

Could it possibly be that simple? Yes, it is that simple. But not easy. No, not easy at all. Because the noise of the dark signal will call to you often. It will come looking for your greatest resource: your attention.

When the noise does capture your attention – which it will – you can make that a momentary thing. You can always find your way back. A brief meditation, or even three deep breaths, can forestall an untoward jump to the lower gameboard. A walk in the woods can lift you right back up to the higher gameboard. Or, focus for a moment on the ridiculously wonderful love you share with your pet dog (or cat, or whatever animal). Or, if you have a significant other, go give them a shoulder massage for no apparent reason. Or, remind yourself of what this is and who you are; i.e., that you and I and everyone else are Source/God having an adventure, playing a game, and weaving a story. Even in the context of gameboards, “the truth will set you free”.

But let me come back to what seems to be a growing separation between the two gameboards.

Many seem to sense the separation. Some conclude that a “split-off” or “timeline shift” is imminent, or even in progress. That is, they infer that the two gameboards will split or are in the process of splitting, and that each of us will permanently end up in the one or the other. However, as I wrote in an article (“Timeline Split?”) posted on this Blog on March 24, 2025, I cannot find the logic in that. If there were to be such a split, and assuming for the sake of argument that half of us go each way, then in each reality 50% of the current players in the massive multi-player game that I call “Earth Game” would have to either (i) somehow all die at once and disappear from the game, or (ii) be replaced by Non-Player Characters (“NPCs”) who have been appropriately programmed so that they fit what is now the sole remaining gameboard on that side of the split-off. I don’t expect to see a world where suddenly there are either (i) no longer any people who are malevolent, or homeless and/or addicted, or war-torn, or otherwise wretched, or (ii) no longer any people who are honest and kind and caring and considerate of others and the Earth itself.

Where I think the progression most likely leads is that the shifting between the two gameboards will become more of a leap – either upwards or downwards. That is, each of us will increasingly gravitate to the one gameboard or the other. Here is where I find an optimism that cannot be deduced simply from analyzing the state of the world today. I expect we will collectively begin to live more in the light. Those who cannot make that leap will gradually and eventually make their exit. Not en masse, but more in the normal course (although perhaps dying off a little sooner than most). Following which, they will presumably not have the option to select “Earth Game” (or at least not this version of Earth Game) for their next adventure in the physical.

In the meantime, the spread between the two worlds does appear to be widening. It is getting harder and harder to straddle the divide, one foot on each side (which for some reason we tend to want to do). The increasing divide seems to me deliberate, purposeful; whatever is happening now is part of Earth’s “story arc”. Our reality is becoming binary. Light or dark; yes or no. Either we are all connected, together in this adventure of heavenly design. Or else we are each on our own in a shared hell. In every moment, you make your choice, and you make your stand. No, not just one-and-done, but in every deployment of your precious attention.

Light and dark are about to have it out in this reality, although not at all in the kind of battle that one might assume. Here is the trap: we will not triumph over darkness by clubbing it decisively with a more powerful darkness. Rather, we are collectively making a choice through a myriad of individual decisions made in the moments of each day by the billions of players in this massive multi-player game. Every choice you make that reflects love and connection – rather than fear and separation and anger – moves the needle in the positive direction.

Make your stand. Refuse to hate. Reject the separation of “us and them”. Decline the seduction of judgment and haughty condemnation. This is not about being “right” and proving others to be “wrong”. Instead, look for connection, caring, compassion. Cast a vote in each moment (or at least as often as you can) for the higher gameboard that beckons. Every time you do, you will lift your personal world, while also contributing to the collective decision of which gameboard will become the “default” one within Earth Game.

This is not a call to cowardice in the face of darkness. But even courageous acts can be taken from a place of compassion and caring and connection. The “vote” that we cast in each moment is not a function of whether we take action and if so what action, but rather turns on the energy that we allow to move through us and shape our actions.

The higher world will in time become the “base” world; of that I feel confident. Dropping down into the lower world of separation and fear and hatred will require a more purposive downward spiral. Fewer will do so, and they will do so less often. What is now two worlds will progressively come back into a single world. And a better world it will be. I have no idea how long it will take before the darker world is essentially gone. That seems well into Earth’s future. But, we can plant the seeds of that future now.

In the meantime, the tug-of-war plays out. Know that, in every moment, you will be pulling on one side of the rope or the other. Which world will you let sing through you?
