On “Ascension”

I have had a recurring intuition of late to begin to explore the concept of “Ascension”. Although my Egoic mind (aka my “Thinky-Brain”) recoils at the apparent arrogance of that notion, the intuition persists. I share here my initial explorations.

One of my favorite “foundational understandings” is the following: everything that exists is a function of Consciousness at play in a sea of energy. By “everything”, I mean all of creation – in every realm, physical or otherwise. Every world, every heaven; every level of existence. All that exists can be seen as energy in formation, i.e., information. From this foundation, I explore in this article what might be the meaning of “Ascension” relative to our Earthly reality.

The root of “ascension”, of course, is the verb “ascend”. Meaning, to go up. In the context of what I call “Earth Game”, Ascension would connote moving up to a higher level. But not just a “next level”. Rather, in the esoteric (i.e., spiritual / metaphysical) context, I suggest regarding “Ascension” as playing “Earth Game” at the highest level at which the game can be played. Hence the references to “Ascended Masters”. In terms of sequencing, Ascension is the final level of Earth Game. No doubt reached only after a great many “rounds” (i.e., lifetimes) of playing the game. After which, you have wrapped up your adventures in the physical realm, and you move on.

Let me come back to the context of “Consciousness at play in a sea of energy”. By “Consciousness” I mean Source/God, i.e., all that is. You and I and everyone else are part of that. In each case, pretending to be separate, but not really. Every adventure, in this physical realm and in every other realm, is Consciousness (aka Source/God) exploring and adventuring.

A key aspect of every exploration and adventure by Consciousness is limitation. Without limitation, there would be nothing to explore and nowhere to adventure. Yes, there is an infinite sea of energy, and an infinite capability to know the sea of energy, but it is all just the One. Without limitation, there would be no way out of the set of all-ness and all-knowingness – and thus nothing to explore and nowhere to adventure. And so, Consciousness devised limitations. Including, at the level of “Earth Game” where we find ourselves, an illusion of separation and a pervasive amnesia. So that we, as participants in the game on behalf of Source/God, would forget who we are, and not even realize that we are inside a game. The perfect recipe for exploration and adventure!

Yet another limitation is the illusion that the physical world around us is all that exists. That is, matter (despite the illusion that it is) was designed to appear to be not only “real”, but also the only thing that is real. Thoughts and feelings and other non-physical emanations of Consciousness (which in truth are all more “real” than matter) would appear to be ephemeral and of themselves inconsequential. Brilliant, the design of this world of “maya”, of illusion.

Eventually, we start to see beyond the illusions. The game is designed for that progression. Probably only after many “rounds” of Earth Game – i.e., after many lifetimes – we sense that more is going on here than atoms being moved around. In time, we catch glimpses beyond the illusion of separation. We begin to explore dimensions beyond the four-dimensional “Spacetime” that is all that our physical senses and our physical brains can compute. Beyond three dimensions of space and one of time, we begin to explore “Multi-Dimensionality”. As we do, we realize that, all along, the game has been playing out in Multi-Dimensionality.

And yet, the rules of physicality continue to apply. Notwithstanding considerable enlightenment regarding the true nature of this reality, one is unlikely to be able to bend a spoon with one’s thoughts or defy gravity by flying like a bird. To be sure, considerable mastery can be achieved here without finding one’s way beyond the laws of physics. Health and longevity, abundance, loving relationships, fulfillment, and a remarkably pervasive good fortune in all things, are all absolutely on the menu without needing to transcend physical laws.

My recent book, EARTH GAME The Next Level, explored in detail the “Next Level” that awaits when one tiptoes beyond four-dimensional Spacetime and into the Multi-Dimensional. But I also left the door open there to a level of Earth Game that might hold even fewer limitations. One can call that “magic”, or transcending the laws of physics, or whatever. But surely it is the terrain of “Ascension”. Somewhat to my surprise, I find myself drawn now to begin to explore what that highest level of Earth Game might be like – and how one might find one’s way there.

Let me stress: the various levels of limitations encountered by players within Earth Game are not an accident or a mistake. Rather, the limitations are there by design, so that Consciousness can adventure here. The limitations that initially hold all relative “newbies” within Spacetime are not in any way indications of defectiveness or unworthiness. One’s current levels of limitation are simply an indication of how far one has progressed as a player within Earth Game. There is no hierarchy of value or worthiness here; every player is Consciousness – i.e., Source/God – having an adventure, playing a game, weaving a story. So let us not look down our noses at players who are relatively new to Earth Game; and let us not indulge our Egos by self-congratulation if we happen to be old hands (aka “Old Souls”) at the game.

Here’s the point: every player within Earth Game will eventually move on up. And, eventually, wrap up here. Which means that every one of us will eventually find our way to the final level. “Ascension”, in that context, is not some pie-in-the-sky concept that only the most gifted or most worthy will ever attain. Rather, you will eventually find your way there, and so will I, and so will every other player. So, let’s dial back the “Woo-Woo” about Ascension. Think of it perhaps as the last spectacular attraction you will visit on the last day of a wonderful scenic vacation, or at the end of a day you spend at an amusement park. After all, in the timelessness that lies beyond “Earth Game”, all your lifetimes here in this physical realm are but a blink.

So, relax; you will find your way to “Ascension”. And it will be wonderful. And then you will move on. Just as you return home at the end of a splendid vacation or a delightful day at an amusement park, Earth Game will eventually be, for you, been there, did that, loved it.

But what if the notion of “Ascension” keeps tiptoeing into your thoughts? What if it does seem to be time to begin to explore the notion? Well, that could mean you are nearing the end of your adventure here in Earth Game. Not in the sense that death is drawing near. But rather in the sense that you may be ready to explore the physical realm with progressively fewer physical limitations. No longer just a participant in a game designed and operated by other aspects of Consciousness; but rather now as a co-creator within the game.

The freedoms and capabilities that attend venturing into the terrain of spirituality and metaphysics and Multi-Dimensionality (all three of which describe the same bridge, by the way) are considerable. But, short of Ascension as such, one’s Earth Game experience will continue to play out in a way that fully respects the laws of physics. Atoms and molecules (including within the physical cells of one’s body) will continue to move around in a linear (i.e., physical cause and effect) albeit fortuitous manner. Physical causes will line up nicely, and good things will happen. But one will not be in the realm of “magic” or “miracles”. No teleportation, no bilocation, no travelling through time or beyond the speed of light will be allowed. No miracle healings, no “loaves and fishes”, no coming back from the grave to pay a visit to old friends.

And yet, here is the key thing to remember: the laws of physics, like every level of limitations within Earth Game, are limitations voluntarily embraced by Consciousness. All limitations (including the illusion of separation and the illusion of physicality) are limitations Consciousness imposed on itself. So that it could progressively move beyond those limitations. In just the right sequence, and at just the right time. All for the adventure, the game, the story.

Ego pleads: C’mon, gimme the magic and miracles now. So that it can impress the heck out of others and become rich and famous. No, that will not be the path to Ascension. It will shine when it shines. And, I assume, it will shine quietly, privately. I suspect the price of admission may include being wise enough not to wreck the game for those still fully engaged in the limitations and illusions of Spacetime. No, showing off one’s “superpowers” would be wisely seen as something to be scrupulously avoided.

When Ascension does beckon, one will know that one is almost through here. It occurs to me that may be a bittersweet moment, when it comes. Because we will know that our “vacation”, our “day at the amusement park”, is almost over. But that will remind us to savor every moment, and to focus our senses exquisitely on the rich sensory delights of physicality. When we arrive at that stage of our long journey here, the last thing we will be focused on is gaining recognition or amassing riches. “Be here now” will pervade our every moment. The “doing” won’t really be the point at that stage; it will not be about saving the world through magic and miracles. No, it will be more about the “being”. (As an aside, I observe that “Earth Game” at every level is less about doing and achieving than our Egos collectively assume to be the case. Rather, the “you” who wanted to come here likely most wanted to experience this realm in all its richness and fullness. Just as the point of a scenic vacation or a day at an amusement park is not to compile a list of “achievements” as such.)

Oh, there will be “fringe benefits” to the path of Ascension. Stay in the physical body as long as one wants (upgrading and de-aging it as desired). Travel to a tropical destination on a winter’s day in a blink – without going anywhere near an airport. Pay a visit to Siriuns or Pleiadeans (or whomever) without being subject to the physical speed limit that the “speed of light” presents. Peer into the past or possible futures. And continue to play this wonderful game, richly immersed in physical sensations, only at that level with progressively fewer limitations or restrictions.

Coming back to the here and now, how to begin? How to move in the direction of the grand freedoms of Ascension and all the magic and miracles awaiting there? Well, as with all metaphysical explorations, begin with intention and imagination. And just see where it goes.

There will be inner resistance, of course – as there always is when the unknown beckons. Beyond a fear of being delusional (worse yet, arrogantly delusional), there is the sheer illogic of a world that might no longer behave in a strictly linear fashion. How unsettling, after working so diligently and for so long on mastering the rules of physicality, if those rules begin to become optional? Besides, where to begin? How to contemplate even “baby steps” towards a world of magic and miracles? Answer: you don’t. One just says “yes”, and waits for the movie to begin. Of course, magic and miracles have been in play all along. Only with “the Universe” lining it all up through serendipities and coincidences. Now, stepping into an active partnership with the Universe to that end.

For my own part, I find it curious that I am even thinking about “Ascension”. My Ego continues to issue a stern caution: That sounds too uppity, airy-fairy, delusional. The wiser parts of me, however, have a different counsel: Hey, take a look over here, just start playing with the notion, and see where it may lead. No obligations, no timetable, no itinerary; just exploring; certainly no needs to be met on this path. That all sounds to me like fun. The inner voice adds: And make sure you make a map as you explore.

If you similarly feel that you have been tapped on the shoulder, and if you say “yes” to this particular adventure, perhaps keep me posted on where your explorations take you.
